§ 2-5. Reserve police force—Creation; command and assignment; qualifications; duties and responsibilities.

  • (a)

    A reserve police force for the City of Marshall is hereby created.

    (b)

    The reserve police force shall be under the command of the chief of police who shall coordinate the reserve force and assign members to specific division commanders. The specific division commander to whom the member is assigned shall then assume command of the reserve so assign.

    (c)

    Membership in the reserve police force shall be subject to meeting the physical and mental qualifications and the training requirements established by the State of Texas, the City of Marshall, and the chief of police.

    (d)

    The reserve police force shall consist of those able-bodied persons deemed necessary by the chief of police to meet the daily need of the City of Marshall.

    (e)

    The reserve police officers shall be expected to assume the duties and responsibilities of the regular police officers, when on assignment, and shall be subject to the rules and regulations in standard operating procedures of the city police department.

    (f)

    The chief of police shall assign reserve police officers to the Marshall Police Department as is deemed necessary to provide adequate level of police protection and service.
