§ 15-24. Director of public health; requirements; required reports.

  • (a)

    There is hereby created the office of director of public health of the Marshall-Harrison County health district. The director shall be a qualified physician licensed, or eligible to be licensed, to practice medicine in the State of Texas and shall be qualified in public health administration. He shall be qualified under and shall conform to the merit system prescribed by the state board of health and shall devote his full time to the performance of the duties of director of public health. The director need not be a resident of the district at the time of his appointment but he shall maintain his residence within the district during his tenure of office. The board is authorized to appoint such director to actively manage the operation of the district and is authorized at any time for good cause to remove said director. Such director shall prepare and file written monthly operational reports with the board, the city commission and the commissioners court. On or before the 10th day of January of each year, the director will prepare and file a written annual report reviewing operations and accomplishments of the district for the past year and projecting the level of services planned to be provided in the ensuing year.

    (b)

    The director shall take and subscribe to the official oath, and shall file a copy of such oath and a copy of his appointment with the state board of health; and until such copies are so filed, he shall not be deemed legally qualified.
