§ 7-10. Minimum drainage grade standards for building construction.

Latest version.
  • (a)

That the city hereby adopts minimum drainage grade standards for regulation in the construction of buildings, as defined in section 32-17 of the City Code of Ordinances, in accordance with attached grade drawings "A" and "B".

    (b)

Grade plans must be submitted to the city engineer for approval, prior to any initiation of construction. A building permit will not be issued until minimum grades are approved by the city engineer.

    (c)

The city engineer is authorized to grant an exception or exceptions to the minimum grade standard upon showing by the applicant that special conditions and/or circumstances exist upon or near the lot, tract or parcel of land which would prohibit compliance with minimum grade standards.

    (d)

The drainage grades, hereby adopted, are the minimum standards for construction of any above-ground buildings. The city assumes no liability, implied or otherwise, for the proper drainage of any lot as a result of the city's issuance of a building permit and/or by the city's approval of the minimum drainage grades submitted to the city. Additional drainage requirements to provide for the proper drainage away from the building site, shall be the sole responsibility of the contractor or other individual obtaining the building permit.
