§ 4-25.2. Impoundment of animals delivered to the city animal control supervisor.

  • (a)

    The city will impound all dogs and cats brought to the Marshall Animal Shelter by residents of the city without the payment of a surrender fee. The city will impound dogs and cats brought to the Marshall Animal Shelter by residents of unincorporated areas of Harrison County upon payment of the current surrender fee for such animals as determined by agreement between the city and the County of Harrison. The city will impound dogs and cats brought to the Marshall Animal Shelter by residents of incorporated areas of Harrison County upon payment of the current surrender fee for such animals as determined by agreement between the city and the incorporated areas of the County of Harrison. The city will impound dogs and cats brought to the Marshall Animal Shelter by non-residents of Harrison County upon payment of the surrender fee of ten dollars ($10.00) per animal, or twenty dollars ($20.00) for a mother with litter. All dogs and cats impounded pursuant to this section shall, after impoundment, be handled in the same manner as those captured and impounded by the city animal control supervisor and shall be subject to the same rules and regulations and the provisions of this chapter.

    (b)

    The animal control supervisor or his or her officers shall have the discretion to accept without surrender fee an animal, which upon said authority's investigation appears to have been picked up as a stray within Harrison County by a non-resident of Harrison County.

    (c)

    The animal control supervisor or his or her officers shall have the discretion to accept without surrender fee any animal, which is severely diseased, injured, or suffering.
