§ 19A-21. Civil municipal court of record.

  • (a)

    Created; purpose. There is hereby created a civil municipal court of record of the city whose judge shall be appointed by the city commission to hear and determine cases concerning alleged violations of this Code and to consider matters within the jurisdiction of said court as specified in chapter 7 of this Code and any other jurisdiction authorized under Section 30.00005 of the Texas Government Code.

    (b)

    By virtue of the office the judge of the city municipal court created by the City Charter and chapter 19A-16 of this Code shall serve as judge of the civil municipal court created by this article. Such a judge shall not be considered to hold two offices within the meaning of the constitution or laws of this state or the Charter or ordinances of the city.

    (c)

    The judge of the civil municipal court will serve a term concurrent with the judge of the city municipal court as established by this Code.
